Venice, Italy

This past summer, we took a family trip to Spain, and then a cruise around Italy! After the cruise, we ended up in Venice where my family and I stayed for four days! While there, we got to experience this unique city with all of its AMAZING history and present day color!

This is a building in Venice where they actually filmed part of the Italian Job, which is one of my favorite movies!

My mom, my two brothers, Charlie and Key and I in a boat on the BEAUTIFUL canal waters of Italy.

A typical apartment/ house in Venice. There is 117 small islands connected by 409 bridges in the city of Venice!

This is where the MAGNIFICENT Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart lived in Venice.

Dallas Music

View from the back at Christmas time!!

Hi all! This is Story Slaughter, the third member of the blog :)
I love music and like to sing, play a little guitar and piano. This weekend I went to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in Downtown Dallas to hear and see a musical collaboration of Christmas songs. I actually really liked it; the talent was unreal and the arrangements were beautiful but never boring. I advise everyone to attend an orchestra or band performance, especially during this holiday season! People work so hard for just over an hour's worth of entertainment and it is super worth it! Hope everyone is having a safe fun holiday. Merry Christmas everybody!!!!

SONGS OF THE WEEK (December 6th-12th)

1. White Christmas- Michael Bublé
2. Last Christmas- Glee Cast (Amazing Show too!)
3. Peace- Norah Jones

(had to be in touch with the season...)

practice makes perfect!!!

For those who think it's easy to sketch lifelike figures, I beg to differ. I attended a 3 week fashion design course at FIT this summer and completed only 4 figures. The amount of time it took to design a 5 piece fashion collection shocked me! The outcome of my hard work thrilled me, but when I look back months later (like I'm doing right now), I consider all of the mistakes I made, scrutinizing my artwork like one of my kindergarden stick figures. I tend to doubt my ability to someday whip out a 3 piece collection in 30 minutes, like on Project Runway. I guess I'll have to wait and see... "Practice makes perfect"...

This picture shows the process of creating my own fashion croquis. The colorful one on the right is my final fashion body, which I chose after many fixes. Tracing paper was very helpful!

These are the flats I drew and the fabrics I chose. These are necessary because they give you a feel as to what the garments would actually look like if they were completed.

Our assignment consisted of drawing four figures in a destination collection. I chose Ireland because of my fetish with Irish rock bands and the musical, grunge culture there. I used my imagination since I have actually never been to Ireland...
