vena cava inspirations

Madison and I take sewing classes together and I just finished my first skirt! I've made 3 dresses with our teacher and an unsuccessful shirt on my own, but I never wear any of my clothes because I feel uncomfortable if I don't LOVE them. My inspiration came from this Vena Cava dress, which I adore!!! It fits really well so I wanted to replicate it, and eventually it ended up becoming a skirt. I think the American Indian print of the fabric works well with the skirt because Vena Cava uses such unusual prints. The zipper is my favorite part because it definitely brings the skirt together (literally).

Story, Madison, and I were eating lunch Sunday afternoon and they made me pose by myself in the restaurant.... it was kind of awkward.

Fun Fact: The zipper I used is actually a double sided, heavy, jacket zipper. My sewing teacher clamped some of the teeth off of the zipper so the glider wouldn't fall off because it was 24 inches and we only needed about 9 inches.

My inspiration!
